In the standalone app, this is what the power button in the Media Player window does.

This is a feature of the standalone application. Because this "automatic" feature is turned on by default, and you may not notice it working. When you open a media file for cleaning, SoundSoap will scan it to find the best spot for learning noise, so you don't have to. It will learn the noise and turn on noise reduction. This all happens automatically, as long as the "Analyze Media" option is checked in the Preferences (to view Preferences click on the "soundsoap" graphic on the bottom right). In many cases, you can simply open and save a media file with SoundSoap without having to adjust any settings at all.

Be sure to configure the "VST Plug-in Bridge" in EDIUS 8's System Settings with the correct plug-ins folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins) and then restart EDIUS for the plug-in to be an available Audio Filter.

SoundSoap and SoundSoap+ 5 are already available as 32-bit and 64-bit plug-ins. Be sure you configure your host application to scan for new plug-ins after installing SoundSoap 5.

Audio is played back through whatever audio device you have selected in your system Sound Output Control Panel or Pref Pane.

Press and hold the Learn button when you hear the section you want to use as the noise profile for as long as needed - SoundSoap 3/4 does not need 2-3 seconds like the older BIAS SoundSoap did, so you can use a very sort section of audio to learn noise. The spacebar (pause/play) controls playback. SoundSoap applies the chosen settings when you save. You do not need to do an "apply" step first.
